Who Wants to be a Super Affiliate

Super affiliate marketing is the new buzzword used to describe Internet marketing gurus who are both ambitious and successful at affiliate marketing. Anyone involved in affiliate marketing is ambitious to some extent; if they weren't, they would be happy to be called a "couch potato" rather than an "affiliate marketer.

Certainly there are wild claims online about affiliate marketing: Make Millions Overnight! Never Work Again! Make $3,000 Per Week Doing Absolutely Nothing! Unfortunately, these claims are usually false. You can certainly make $3,000 per week, but you will be doing something.

To go from being a plain affiliate to super affiliate takes a lot of work. In short, you need to be an affiliate of steel.

The vast majority of affiliate marketing sites online are run by people who have no great interest in turning a huge profit. For example, you'll find thousands of blogs where people put up a few Amazon listings and/or Google links hoping that someone will stumble upon their site and click on a link.

That's all well and good, but this is no way to make a dent in the affiliate marketing game. To be a super affiliate, you need to treat affiliate marketing as a job, not just something that you do on the side to put a couple of bucks in your pocket. Of course, if all you want to do is put a couple of bucks in your pocket, you can do it with Internet marketing.

There is a misconception that affiliate marketing is not a real business. After all, the affiliate is not putting out a product.

I suppose that means that public relations and advertising are not real jobs, either. Every four years the United States holds a presidential election. Do the candidates simply put up a few banners and a few text ads in hopes that someone will see them and cast a vote their way? Yeah, pretty ridiculous, huh?

You can bet on the candidates hiring the best PR people, speech writers and a gaggle of advertising reps to get their message out. They search for people in every nook and cranny of America to help their campaign.

In other words, they seek out quality people to affiliate with their campaign (affiliates) to help get their message out. These are people who wish to affiliate themselves with a particular campaign because of ideals or money.

For the most part, a campaign will take just about anyone as an affiliate to get their message out, but the big bucks go to the Super Affiliates who can deliver their message aggressively to a large segment of the population.

You see, affiliate marketing for products and services is really not much different than a presidential campaign, except for the mud-slinging and lying. The mudslingers and liars in our industry will eventually be found out by the Federal Trade Commission and fined heavily.

An affiliate marketer is in charge of search engine optimization, custom content, quality web design, financial management, and everything else that goes into running a successful e-business. In essence, an affiliate marketer is a media specialist and small business owner wrapped into one.

As with any business, an affiliate marketing plan is only as strong as the amount of work put into it. A super affiliate does homework. A super affiliate finds out which are the hottest industries. What are the hottest products and services? How can these products and services best be promoted to thousands and thousands of people?

Smart companies constantly search for affiliates who can become super affiliates. Let’s go back to a political campaign for a moment and think about issues. Three issues seem to pop up every election cycle: security, the economy and health care.

Did you know that one of the hottest affiliate marketing programs is in the health care industry? Think about some of the more popular forums on the Internet. Oprah, MSN, Google, AOL and Yahoo all have areas where people can ask health-related questions and get answers.

Why are so many people willing to share such information? Two basic reasons jump out immediately. The cost of health care may prevent them from scheduling a medical visit for what they perceive to be a simple problem, but a problem none-the-less. And, those questions can be asked anonymously on the Internet. Those same two reasons are the foundation for making health care a hot affiliate marketing program.

There is one in particular we would recommend to anyone exploring a future in affiliate marketing. It provides decent prices for consumers, high commissions to affiliates and offers a two-tier marketing program.
